Enterprise cast and crew started filming the second episode of the new season on Thursday.

Entitled "Anomaly", the instalment will be directed by David Straiton, according to a report by TrekWeb's Steve Krutzler, who paid a visit to the Enterprise soundstages during the shooting of the episode. Straiton's previous credits include "Desert Crossing" and "A Night In Sickbay".

During his tour, Krutzler had the chance to look at three Enterprise sets which will make their debut this season. The first is a command centre, described as a "small conference-type room", while the second is a new brig set, complete with "metal bars". The third locale is being kept under wraps for the time being.

Unfortunately, there weren't any Xindi to be spotted relaxing with a soft drink in between takes or wandering back to their trailers. The new enemy for the season will be computer generated, with "black-suited actors" spotted standing in for the mysterious aliens.

The first appearance of the Xindi will be in the appropriately titled season premiere, "The Xindi". Allan Kroeker, who helmed last season's finale, "The Expanse", directed the episode.
