A war breaks out between the Vulcans and Andorians in the upcoming Enterprise episode 'Cease Fire'.

StarTrek.com yesterday released the below official synopsis of the episode, currently scheduled to air February 12:

A military conflict erupts between the Vulcans and Andorians over a small terraformed planet that both sides make claim to. In the midst of the skirmish, the Vulcans announce they wish to discuss terms for a cease-fire, but Imperial Guard officer Shran believes the only one he can trust to mediate such a negotiation is Jonathan Archer, so the captain and his ship are called into the fray.

'Cease Fire' was written by co-executive producer Chris Black ('Carbon Creek') and directed by David Straiton, who helmed 'Vanishing Point' and 'A Night In Sickbay' earlier in the season.

The official site also released details of the episode's guest cast:

  • Jeffrey Combs as Shran
  • Suzie Plakson as Tarah
  • Gary Graham as Soval
  • John Balma as Muroc
  • Vaughn Armstrong as Admiral Forrest
  • Zane Cassidy as Andorian Soldier

'Cease Fire' marks the third appearance of Combs as the Andorian Shran, having previously played the character in 'The Andorian Incident' and 'Shadows of P'Jem'. Graham reprises the role of Vulcan Ambassador Soval for the fourth time after guest-starring in 'Broken Bow', 'Shadows of P'Jem' and 'Shockwave, Part II', while Armstrong's Admiral Forrest makes his eighth Enterprise appearance.

Suzie Plakson, who plays Trek's first female Andorian, is probably best known as Worf's mate K'Ehleyr in the Next Generation episodes 'The Emissary' and 'Reunion.' The actress also appeared as Dr Selar in TNG's 'The Schizoid Man' and the Female Q in Voyager's 'The Q and the Grey.'

John Balma has had guest roles on series such as Alias, Gilmore Girls and The District, while Zane Cassidy did stunts for 'Star Trek: Insurrection.'

Production on 'Cease Fire' ran from Thursday, November 21 to Tuesday, December 3, with a two-day break for Thanksgiving. Sets ranged from a shuttlepod (carrying Gary Graham, Scott Bakula (Jonathan Archer) and Jolene Blalock (T'Pol)) to the colony locations "Bombed Out Building" and "Decimated Settlement." The official site also reported 'Cease Fire' will feature the first Andorian starships seen on Trek.
