Synopsis: "T'Pol tells Archer and Trip a story about her great-grandmother T'Mir and three other Vulcans who made first contact with humans after crash landing in a small Pennsylvania town in the 1950s. T'Pol's story shocks Archer and Trip because her account is much earlier and very different from what history books reported."

  • Rick Berman: "We've got a show that takes place in 1957, where we learn that Vulcans actually made first contact with Earth long before Zefram Cochrane. The whole show takes place in the 1950s, with T'Pol's great-grandmother." (July 17, 2002 - TrekToday)

  • Rick Berman: "It's going to turn out that the Vulcans were keeping an eye on Sputnik when it got launched. [The Vulcans] have a little accident and have to land in western Pennsylvania....   • Reportedly takes place during the NX-01's crew evaluation period. Archer, Trip, and T'Pol gather for a drink, and T'Pol tells the story of her ancestor who visited Earth in 1957 when a Vulcan ship crashed near the town of Carbon Creek. While repairing the ship, the Vulcans mingle with the locals, even stopping to play some pool. Archer and Trip refuse to believe T'Pol's tale, but the truth is revealed when the Vulcan brings out a red purse her ancestor picked up in Carbon Creek. (August 13, 2002 - TrekToday)
