An away mission is set to have strange consequences for Trip Tucker in the fourth Enterprise episode 'Unexpected', it was revealed today.

'Unexpected' is rumoured to be the first comic Enterprise episode and will feature the first human male pregnancy.

UPN released their official synopsis for the episode, which will air on Wednesday, October 17 th. The description has been made available online, courtesy of Psi Phi:

When Trip is dispatched to assist an alien ship with its power source problems, he is delighted to have a friendly encounter with one of the ship's female engineers.

But after discovering that their special moment has resulted in his becoming pregnant, he realises he's had an unwitting experience with alien sex. Now it's up to the Archer and the crew to return the rapidly growing alien baby to its mother.

The episode was written by Enterprise co-creators Rick Berman & Brannon Braga. It was directed by veteran director Mike Vejar. Vejar directed 14 episodes of Star Trek: Voyager and has recently directed the upcoming Scifi channel TV movie 'Babylon 5: Legend of the Rangers.' 'Unexpected' is his first work for the new Trek series.

The episode will feature the following actors in guest roles:

  • Julianne Christie as Ah'Len
  • Randy Oglesby as Trena'L
  • Christopher Darga as Klingon Captain
  • Regi Davis as Klingon First Officer
  • TL Kolman as Alien Man
  • John Cragen as Crewman
  • Drew Howerton as Steward

Julianne Christie is no stranger to Star Trek, having previously appeared as Neelix' love interest Drexa in the Voyager episode 'Homestead.' The actress has also appeared in numerous other TV roles, including Nash Bridges, and had a role in 1996 film 'The Nutty Proffessor.'

Several other guest actors in this episode also made previous appearances in Trek. Randy Oglesby played Ah-Kel and Ro-Kel in the Deep Space Nine episode 'Vortex,' Silaran Prin in DS9's 'The Darkness and the Light,' and Kir in the season 5 Voyager episode 'Counterpoint.' Christopher Darga had a role as Kaybok in Deep Space Nine's 'The Way of the Warrior,' and Y'Sek in Voyager's 'Think Tank.' And while 'Unexpected' will be his first appearance on screen in Star Trek, John Cragen provided several voices in the Raven Software first person shooter computer game 'Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force.'

Previous spoilers about this episode indicated that it will feature the first mention of advanced holo-technology. Behind the scenes footage has already been seen online, which featured the first dialogue from the episode (story). Connor Trinneer who plays Trip Tucker described 'Unexpected' as "Very Funny."
