Enterprise executive producer Brannon Braga said yesterday the xenophobic Tholians could become big players in the Temporal Cold War storyline.

"We have another installment of the Temporal Cold War coming up, and the Tholians make a kind of a surprising appearance in that show," Braga told the Sci-Fi Wire. "We hint that they might be involved somehow as another faction in the Temporal Cold War. So they're not just a species that we meet. They may play a bigger role."

The episode in question is 'Crash Landing', in which the NX-01 discovers a damaged vessel floating in space with a human on board. While they are examining the craft, both the Suliban and the Tholians - making their first Trek appearance since the Original Series episode 'The Tholian Web' - lay claim to the vessel.

UPN will air 'Crash Landing' during the crucial February sweeps period. Networks usually pull out all the stops to attract viewers in the thrice-yearly sweeps periods, as the ratings determine how much they can charge for advertising time. As part of its publicity campaign, UPN recently released a new synopsis of the episode:

Archer discovers a badly damaged vessel with the body of a human pilot aboard. As he investigates the mystery, Enterprise is attacked by the Suliban and a strange new race of hostile aliens both intent on seizing the enigmatic vessel. Ultimately, Archer learns the vessel is a "spy plane" from the distant future that crash-landed in our century...and he finds himself in the middle of a heated battle in the Temporal Cold War.

'Crash Landing' is scheduled to air February 19 on UPN. The original article can be found here at the Sci-Fi Wire.
