Doohan Recuperating From Illness At Home

James Doohan (Montgomery 'Scotty' Scott) is still recovering from a bout of pneumonia which left him hospitalised earlier this year.

Doohan's agent, Steve Stevens, said recent reports that the actor had slipped into a coma were erroneous. "James has been a client of mine for almost 30 years," Stevens told Zap2it. "For an 82-year-old man who spent 13 weeks in bed recuperating from pneumonia, he's doing damn well."

Unfortunately, the veteran actor has now been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and diabetes, with many of his ailments stemming from old war injuries. "He's not ready to do any personal appearances yet," Stevens added, "but he is home and he is doing rehabilitation - a lot of the stuff he's going through now are a result of his injuries from World War II."

Doohan was admitted to hospital suffering from pneumonia in February, forcing him to pull out of convention appearances, but was eventually allowed hom to recuperate (story). The actor lives in Seattle with his wife Wende, and their 2-year-old daughter, Sarah. We wish him all the best with his recovery.

The original report can be found here at Zap2it.
