Hello World!

Wow, West Wing this week! *sob* I can't believe they...

Oh wait, I can't write about that. Caillan hasn't seen it yet.

This is season premiere month for U.S. network television. Thing is, a lot of the world won't see the episodes we're seeing now for a year or more. Which makes it hard to gossip in any public forum. I got in trouble with a friend for talking about a scene from Pirates of the Caribbean, more than four months after the movie had come out -- and I saw it a month later than everyone I knew in Washington, anyway, because I was on vacation when it opened.

How long is a spoiler a spoiler on a global internet where one can find open discussion, not to mention entire episodes on Kazaa, the night they air? I'm never sure, and tend to talk vaguely about big dramatic moments and endings, but some people get irked if I so much as mention that there's going to be a Klingon in a Trek episode or that I heard that Juliet Landau might be appearing on Angel again.

At any rate, my Enterprise reviews will be an hour later on Wednesdays from now on, as I am not going to miss West Wing and risk having someone spoil it for me!

Trek Two Years Ago

These were some of the major news items from late September 2001:

  • 'Enterprise' Scores Massive Overnight Ratings
Enterprise's premiere turned in overnight numbers considerably higher than those of the previous several seasons of Star Trek: Voyager and beat all networks besides NBC. The second hour of "Broken Bow" had even higher ratings than the first, which suggested that viewers were enthusiastic about the new show.

  • Blalock Cares About T'Pol, Not Her Looks
"I'm here for the character rather than the va-va or the voom," Jolene Blalock told an interviewer, saying that her character's catsuited look was...
...something I can't control, because it's completely physical. It's something that doesn't occupy my mind. I'm not worried about the character's appearance getting in the way of how she is perceived. The character works completely, in terms of the way she's being written and the way she's meant to be portrayed.

  • Trek Nation Episode Guide Launches
The Trek Nation opened a new Episode Guide section to give fans the opportunity to stay informed about all aspects of Enterprise episodes and allowing webmasters to offering the listings on their own sites.
