  • Following the statements by Trek advisor Richard Arnold that Paramount was planning to release special edition Trek movie DVDs containing extra scenes, and yesterday's report that Paramount said any special edition DVDs "are possibly years away from coming", Peter Bracke at the DVD File sent in the following update:

I did receive a reply from Paramount's head of Home Video, that Mr. Arnold is only partically correct. Paramount is planning to revisit all the Trek films as special editions on DVD someday, but not all of them will be recut. Leonard Nimoy is pleased with the cuts of III and IV, for example, so supplemental material may or may not include any deleted scenes, etc.

Major thanks go out to Peter Bracke for this info, hopefully that should finally settle the issue.

  • Today is the release date of Volume 11 and Volume 12 of the Original Series DVDs. Volume 11 contains the episodes 'A Taste Of Armageddon' and 'Space Seed', while Volume 12 contains 'Tomorrow Is Yesterday' and 'Return of the Archons'. The next batch of Original Series DVDs, including Volume 14, which contains 'The City On The Edge Of Forever', will be released on the 11th of July.

  • And Jeff Bond at the Mothership has put up his review of the 'Galaxy Quest' DVD, awarding it a B+ and praising the visual quality, though he isn't that positive about the extra features included on the disc. Thanks go out to TrekWeb for this!
