No Special Edition DVDs Coming Soon

As we reported this weekend, at the FedCon 8 convention in Germany, Trek advisor Richard Arnold said that Paramount would be creating special editions of all the Trek films, including cut scenes, to be released on DVD.

At the Home Theater Forum, a thread was posted about Arnold's statements, following which forum administrator Ronald Epstein contacted Paramount. According to the studio, any Star Trek special editions "are possibly years away from coming".

While on the one hand this is bad news, as the many cut scenes from films such as 'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan' will now again remain hidden for a while, it also means the people who bought the film-only DVDs won't be forced to spend their money twice on the same movies.
