Hello World!

One never appreciates the freedom that comes with good health until something happens to take away that freedom. I have spent more time that I would ever like to spend being a "couch spud" recently, courtesy of a probable herniated disk in my neck or upper back.

Such tasks such as cleaning a bathroom, mopping a floor or carrying heavy items including groceries are suddenly activities that cannot be done without a heavy pain penalty.

Even simple things such as lifting the electric kettle to pour hot water for coffee, showering, or getting dressed have become difficult and painful. One wrong move, and stabbing or searing, burning pain is the result. Not fun.

I do know one thing. Once this passes, I'll be grateful instead of resentful the next time that I have to scrub out a sink, mop the floors or do several loads of laundry. Because I know what it's like to not be able to do those basic house chores or to have to have someone do them for me. There's nothing like good health. Even if it means you have to do boring housework.

For now, I'm happy that I can still drive. It was great to be able to cook a meal today, something I couldn't do yesterday. Perhaps tomorrow, I'll be able to put on a shirt without the accompanying pain, or lift my cup of coffee without wincing. This will settle down given enough time, but it will leave me with a renewed appreciation for being able to do the simple things of life.

In the meanwhile, does anyone want to come over and clean my bathrooms for me?

Jolan Tru,
T'Bonz
