If you've ever dreamed of battling the Borg, romancing alien women with James T. Kirk or simply hanging out on the holodeck, then you'll want to check out the upcoming Star Trek roleplaying game.

The new official roleplaying books produced by Customizable Card Game manufacturer Decipher are set to launch early this year.

First up is the 'Star Trek RPG Player's Guide,' tentatively scheduled for release in February, which will be followed by the 'Narrator's Guide.' Both these books were originally set for release in the last quarter of 2001 (story).

Together the guidebooks feature all the rules for playing Decipher's "cinematic" roleplaying game, which claims to place an emphasis on character development.

Decipher acquired the roleplaying license in February 2001 when it took over FANtastic Media, the company responsible for the official Star Trek Fan Club. In addition to its Star Trek merchandise, the company has produced card games for 'Star Wars' and 'The Lord of the Rings.'

The original press release can be found here. Thanks to Kent Campbell for this!
