Picture courtesy of 'Marjorie Monaghan - An Unofficial Site' After already reporting that an unnamed Babylon 5 actress was up for the role of Sub-Commander T'Pau in Series V, the Great Link today reported that the actress in question is Marjorie Monaghan . Besides appearing on Babylon 5 as Number One, she guest-starred in the Voyager episode 'Heroes & Demons' as Freya.

According to the site's source, Monaghan is in the final selection for the part. The source did not know for sure whether she actually had the role, though one person who the source had spoken to was certain she had the part.

In the casting sheet that was leaked to the internet last month (story), the character of T'Pau is described as an "austere yet sensual" Vulcan female in her late 20s or early 30s. "She's the Science Officer assigned to oversee humanity's progress on board Enterprise," the sheet described the character. "Although she's cautious and guarded around humans, whom she considers primitive and irrational, she's developed a grudging respect for Captain Archer. She'll become one of his most loyal and trusted crew members."

Monaghan has a long history with science fiction shows. One of her first television appearances was in the Quantum Leap episode 'One Strobe Over The Line,' in which she played Edie Landsdale. While filming this role, she of course met Scott Bakula, who has been reported to be in negotiations for the lead role in the next Star Trek series.

Star Trek fans might know her as Freya, the Doctor's love interest in the Voyager episode 'Heroes and Demons.'

According to a biography published on the Unofficial Marjorie Monaghan Site, Monaghan currently resides in the Los Angeles area, where she was developing a new series and had begun to do some writing. She also enjoys to sing, and is a frequent guest at science fiction conventions.

Marjorie Monaghan at FedCon Interestingly, the most recent convention Monaghan appeared at was FedCon 9 in Bonn, Germany. TrekNews.de posted a report about her convention appearance, but of course she did not talk about the fifth Star Trek series at all - even if these rumours are true, she is undoubtedly forbidden to say anything. Monaghan did talk about her love for the science fiction genre, saying that she thought science fiction themes are always very interesting and the genre offers good, strong roles for women. With her height of 6 feet, that is especially important for Monaghan, as most male actors look rather short compared to her.

In its original report, the Great Link stressed that Monaghan is only in the running to get the part, and it is not certain yet whether she will actually get it. In addition, none of this has been confirmed by Paramount, so as usual, please treat this news as you would any rumour. Thanks go out to the Unofficial Marjorie Monaghan Site, MediaTrek.com and TrekNews.de for the above photos, respectively.
