Ensign Hoshi Sato is set to have nerve-racking first experience with the transporter in the upcoming episode 'Vanishing Point'.

StarTrek.com yesterday released the below official synopsis of the episode, which is currently scheduled to air on November 27:

When Hoshi Sato goes through her first Transporter experience, strange aftereffects lead her to believe she wasn't reassembled correctly and that her very existence is threatened.

'Vanishing Point' was written by Enterprise executive producers Rick Berman and Brannon Braga. 'Desert Crossing' and 'A Night In Sickbay' helmer David Straiton directed the episode:

The official site also posted details of the episode's guest cast:

  • Keone Young as Hoshi's Father
  • Morgan Margolis as Crewman Baird
  • Carly Thomas as Crewman Rhodes
  • Gary Riotto as Alien #1
  • Ric Sarabia as Alien #2

Two members of the guest cast have made previous Trek appearances. Young played Buck Bokai in DS9's 'If Wishes Were Horses'; his other work includes the recurring role of Professor Choy on Alias and appearances in The Invisible Man and NYPD Blue. Margolis guest starred in Voyager's 'Living Witness' as a Vaskan visitor. His character's name is no doubt a homage to 'Star Trek Nemesis' director Stuart Baird.

According to TV Tome, Thomas's sole television credit is a guest role in Deadline, although her stage work includes the Broadway musical 'Rent.' Riotto has appeared in episodes of Gilmore Girls and Roswell, while Sarabia has guest starred in The X Files and Angel.

Production on 'Vanishing Point' ran from Wednesday, October 2, to Friday, October 10, with filming taking place mainly on ship sets. Linda Park (Hoshi Sato) and Connor Trinneer ('Trip' Tucker) made a brief excursion to an alien ruins set depicting the planet they are visiting when an approaching polaric storm necessitates the use of the transporter.

Scott Bakula (Jonathan Archer) celebrated his birthday during the shoot, and the cast and crew pulled out all the stops for the birthday boy. A red carpet ran from Bakula's trailer (decorated with streamers) to Stage 18, and the crew wore baseball caps emblazoned with the word 'Captain.'

A small change has been made to the Enterprise airing schedule. After next week's showing of 'A Night In Sickbay,' a repeat of 'Shockwave, Part II' will air on October 23, according to Psi Phi. New episodes will resume once again with 'Marauders' on October 30.
