William Shatner - copyright Challenge Park Extreme William Shatner (James T. Kirk) recently visited Challenge Park Extreme to prepare for a Star Trek-themed charity paintball match in which he will captain one of the teams.

The James T. Kirk actor toured the extreme sports theme park and helped to plan the storyline for the William Shatner Charity Big Game, which will be held on August 31 in conjunction with the Society of Paintball Players and Teams (SPPLAT).

As previously reported, three teams will take part in the paintball match, with Shatner leading the Federation. Radio DJ Mancow Muller will command the Klingons, while Tom Kaye of Airgun Designs will take charge of the Borg. Each team will try to capture Star Trek items such as the Sword of Kahless and Warp Plasma.

While visiting Challenge Park Extreme, Shatner announced his intention to film the event for a one-hour television special and eventual release on video and DVD. Any participants who bring cameras to the game will be provided with film to shoot footage for use in the special.

Paintball won't be the only attraction on the day, as a Star Trek convention will also be taking place, with celebrities on hand to sign autographs. Other events planned include a freestyle BMX contest, a BMX race, a mountain biking 'bike'n shoot' contest, and live concerts.

The event will benefit Ahead With Horses, which gives physically challenged children a chance to ride a horse, helping to boost their confidence.

For details on how to participate in the paintball match, head over to the SPPLAT web site. Information on Challenge Park Extreme can be found here.
