Sources today revealed the title of the third Enterprise episode to go before the cameras this season: "Extinction".

The episode will reportedly revolve around a new alien life form which assumes the identity of Enterprise crew members, including Captain Jonathan Archer and Lieutenant Malcolm Reed.

"Extinction" is scheduled to be the third episode filmed, with production expected to start later this month. However, episodes are sometimes shot in a different order from the final air schedule, with season two's "Carbon Creek" being filmed prior to the season premiere, "Shockwave, Part II".

Two additional Enterprise characters will be seen in "Extinction": Palmer and Chang. The officers will participate in an away mission to an alien planet.

Please note that this information comes from an early draft of the script and has yet to be confirmed by Paramount Pictures, and until that time you should treat this information as you would any other rumour.

"Exctinction" will likely air in October, 2003.
