"FutureGuy lied! Or was, at minimum, mistaken," revealed reviewer Hercules in his first Enterprise review since last season's "Regeneration."

Ain't It Cool News gave the episode two and a half stars, spoiling the revelations that the Xindi did not attack Earth out of fear that humans would destroy their planet 400 years hence. He also said that the episode ends on a cliffhanger note, with the line, "Finish the weapon quickly! Or I’ll destroy the Earth ship, whether this council approves or not!"

Hercules said that on his screener copy, "Faith of the Heart" remained the theme song, though the music was more up-tempo. The title had not been changed to Star Trek: Enterprise.

T'Pol's eyebrows, he said, had been altered to look less human, and viewers get a glimpse of her topless.

Hercules praised the "brief Jedi roundtable-esque segments that bookend the episode" as well as a dream sequence of Tucker's described as "decidedly 'T2'-ish", but added, "the fun is far too fleeting...there’s little encouragement to be found in 'The Xindi' beyond a few nifty computer-generated extraterrestrials."
