An early online review of the Enterprise season premiere, "The Xindi", claimed that the show has improved since last season's first episode and stated that "the new direction for the series does look promising."

Kathie Huddleston of SciFi.com awarded "The Xindi" a B+, an improvement upon the B- she gave "Shockwave, Part Two" which she had described as "far too simplistic."

The season premiere, written by executive producers Rick Berman and Brannon Braga and helmed by longtime Trek director Allan Kroeker, "is a pretty good episode, with plenty of action and an interesting resolution", said Huddleston.

"The best thing about the third season premiere, 'Xindi,' is that we do get to meet the Xindi up close and personal right in the very beginning. Having five species who all believe they are the dominant species is a cool idea, and having the Insect Xindi argue with the Sea Creature Xindi and the other species of Xindi offers more than a little insight into what the Enterprise is up against," she wrote.

Huddleston also found the new assault team to be a realistic addition and speculated that fans might tune in just to see T'Pol and Tucker with their shirts off.

"The Xindi" premieres tomorrow night, Wednesday, September 10th, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on UPN.
