Hello World!

Great news! The Indiana Jones movies are finally coming out on DVD later this year. Though given Australian release dates, it will probably meander down here sometime in 2004. Check out this Nemesis shocker from yesterday. What are they doing with the Region 4 version - shipping it on the First Fleet?

I've been sick the last few days, which has given me a chance to catch up on daytime television. It still sucks. All the morning talk shows are riddled with advertorials selling the magical cure to weight gain, magnetic wool blankets and heated rocks which enhance your general well-being. "Ooh, it really works," says the annoyingly perky advertorial hostess as she holds a rock to her neck. And don't forget, it can be yours for the low price of $79.95!

Trek Two Years Ago

These were some of the major news items on May 7 & 8, 2001:

  • Rick Sternbach On Prequel Design Challenges
Longtime Trek illustrator Rick Sternbach recalled how he was not called back for Enterprise after Voyager's end:

"I had heard that Eaves had been put to work designing for Series V before we shut down Voyager's art department, and I simply waited to hear if I was going to be asked to join the new show while finishing up work on 'Endgame'. When that word didn't come, I finished packing up and decided to move on to other projects."

  • Series V To Start Shooting May 14
Filming on the Enterprise pilot, "Broken Bow", was scheduled to begin on May 14. The article also featured spoiler reports on Star Trek Nemesis and the Voyager finale, "Endgame".

  • Voyager Stars Give Advice To Series V Actors
Several members of the outgoing Trek gang offered some thoughts on acting in the franchise. "Don't wear rubber!" said Ethan Phillips (Neelix). "No, if you've got to wear rubber, accept it. Hang in there: long hours, have plenty to read and if you don't drink coffee, start!"

Today's Television Listings

  • At 8:00pm (7:00pm Central), UPN will be showing "Regeneration". Here's how Paramount describes the episode:

"An arctic research team on Earth discovers debris from an alien vessel, nearly a century old, buried in a glacier along with the bodies of two cybernetically enhanced humanoids. Once those beings are thawed for investigation, they come to life and abduct the scientists and their transport vessel. Enterprise is called to intercept, but Captain Archer and his crew find these cyborgs to be an intractable, insidious enemy."
