The crew will have to take shelter in the nacelles to escape a lethal dose of radiation in the upcoming Enterprise 'The Catwalk'.

StarTrek.com yesterday released the below official synopsis for the episode, currently set to air on December 18:

When a lethal neutronic storm approaches faster than Enterprise can escape, the entire crew takes shelter in the most heavily shielded part of the ship — the maintenance shafts inside the warp nacelles — for several days. They also provide refuge to a group of aliens who aren't entirely upfront about themselves.

Enterprise co-producers Mike Sussman and Phyllis Strong penned 'The Catwalk,' which was helmed by veteran Trek director Mike Vejar.

The episode's guest cast includes:

  • Scott Burkholder as Tagrim
  • Zach Grenier as Renth
  • Aaron Lustig as Guri
  • Elizabeth Magness as Crewman #1
  • Danny Goldring as Alien Captain
  • Brian Cousins as Alien Lieutenant
  • Sean Smith as Alien #1

Many of the actors have appeared in previous Trek episodes. Burkholder played Hilliard in DS9's 'When It Rains,' while Lustig guest-starred as the Doctor in Voyager's 'Ex Post Factor.' Magness reprises her below-decks character from the episode 'Minefield'.

'The Catwalk' is Goldring's sixth Trek appearance, having played the Nausicaan Captain in 'Fortunate Son', Legate Krell in DS9's 'Civil Defense,' Burke in DS9's 'Nor The Battle To The Strong' and the Alpha Hirogen in Voyager's 'The Killing Game, Parts I and II.' Cousins guest-starred as Parem in TNG's 'The Next Phase' and 'Crosis' in TNG's 'Descent, Parts I and II.'

Of the first-time Trek guest stars, Grenier played Carl Webb in four episodes of 24 last season; he has also appeared in The X-Files, NYPD Blue and Judging Amy. Smith's television roles include guest shots on Frasier, Angel and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

The episode took eight days to film, with the shoot running from Wednesday, October 23, to Friday, November 1. In addition to the guest stars with speaking parts, 'The Catwalk' required twenty extras to portray crew members crammed into the nacelle compartments where the crew takes refuge. Regular cast members Scott Bakula (Jonathan Archer), Jolene Blalock (T'Pol), Dominic Keating (Malcolm Reed) and Connor Trinneer ('Trip' Tucker) suited up in the EV gear to film scenes in the areas of the ship affected by radiation.

'Precious Cargo', originally scheduled to air December 4, will now be broadcast on December 11. For more information, head over to the original article at StarTrek.com.
