The Nausicaans are set to make their Enterprise debut in the upcoming episode 'Fortunate Son'.

StarTrek.com today released the following official synopsis of the episode:

The Enterprise crew is dispatched by Starfleet Command to assist Fortunate, a human freight vessel that has been attacked by Nausicaan pirates. On arriving, they are surprised to find that Fortunate's crew is resistant to Archer's efforts to help them and determined to seek revenge against their attackers, no matter what the repercussions.

'Fortunate Son' was written by Trek-newcomer James Duff. Duff's previous work includes the feature film 'The War At Home,' starring Martin Sheen (The West Wing), and several TV movies. As previously reported, the episode was helmed by veteran Trek actor/director LeVar Burton (Geordi La Forge), who also directed 'Terra Nova'.

The Nausicaans won't be the only familiar faces in the episode, as the guest cast includes long-time Trek actor Vaughn Armstrong, reprising his role as Admiral Forrest from 'Broken Bow'. The full guest list can be found below:

  • Lawrence Monoson as Ryan Cross
  • Kieran Mulroney as Shaw
  • Vaughn Armstrong as Admiral Forrest
  • Danny Goldring as Nausicaan Captain
  • Charles Lucia as Captain Keene
  • D. Elliot Woods as Nausicaan Prisoner

All the members of the guest cast have made prior appearances on Trek. Monoson was featured in the DS9 episode 'The Storyteller' as Hovath, while Mulroney played Benzan in TNG's 'The Outrageous Okona.'

Goldring previously portrayed the Alpha Hirogen in Voyager's two-parter 'The Killing Game,' as well as Burke in DS9's 'Nor The Battle To The Strong' and Legate Kell in 'Civil Defense.' Lucia appeared in Voyager's 'Alliances' as Mabus and TNG's 'Man Of The People' as Ves Alkar. Finally, Woods was featured in the DS9 episode 'The Sons Of Mogh' as a Klingon officer, and then crossed over to play a Starfleet crewmember in 'Star Trek Insurrection.'

In a recent interview actress Linda Park (Hoshi Sato) talked about the relationship between Travis Mayweather and the cargo vessel's crew (story). "The episode that we're on now, we get to meet some more Boomers who are humans that grew up in space on a cargo ship," she said. "And Anthony Montgomery - who plays Mayweather - is a Boomer."

Although this is the first time they will be seen on Enterprise, the Nausicaans were previously mentioned by Doctor Phlox in 'Fight Or Flight'. Jean-Luc Picard had a nasty run-in with the species while an Ensign - a Nausicaan thug stabbed him through the heart, causing the young Picard to need cardiac replacement surgery.

'Fortunate Son' will air Wednesday November 21 on UPN. The original report can be found here at StarTrek.com.
