Hello World!

Do you find yourself attracted to other television series because of the presence of Trek actors?

Last Thursday, Dark Angel aired in Australia, and I sat down to watch the premiere because I knew that Nana Visitor would be making an appearance towards the end of the season. Plus, John Savage, who played Captain Ransom so well in Voyager's 'Equinox,' has a regular role.

The pilot was adequate overall - the storyline showed promise for future episodes, but Jessica Alba's dreadful performance, complete with monotone line delivery and a static facial expression, didn't do much to help matters.

Tonight is the Australian premiere of Boston Public. I'm not a David E. Kelley follower, but I'm going to watch it because I know Jeri Ryan will be joining the cast in the second season. Hopefully, I'll like the show enough by then that her addition will be icing on the cake.

Now to go and see Jurassic Park III just to catch a glimpse of Linda Park....

These were some of the most important news headlines on July 30, 1999:

  • 'Barge Of The Dead' News Item
Alien Nation star Eric Pierpoint told the audience at a science fiction convention that he would be making an appearance on Voyager as a Klingon. In the episode 'Barge Of The Dead,' Pierpoint played Kotar, "a doomed individual put in charge of taking the Klingons who died a dishonourable death to the Klingon version of Hell."

  • Patrick Stewart Chat Report
In a chat at the official Star Trek site, Patrick Stewart said that he hadn't heard anything about Trek X, and didn't expect to for another 9-12 months. Two years on, the film is now in pre-production.
