Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard) will perform voice work for two very different upcoming Disney projects.

Anime News Network reported that Stewart would provide English-language dubbing for the DVD release of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, an anime feature by Academy Award-winner Hayao Miyazaki.

And Mickey News posted a press release stating that Stewart would voice the magic mirror for Snow White – An Enchanting New Musical, a production scheduled to premiere at Fantasyland Theatre in the Disneyland theme park.

Disney Home Entertainment and Studio Ghibli are co-producing Nausicaa, which will be released on a two-disc set along with My Neighbor Totoro and Porco Rosso on August 31st.

The films will include the original Japanese language track and storyboards and brand-new English dubbing by actors such as Dakota Fanning, Alison Lohman, Michael Keaton and Next Generation guest star David Ogden Stiers.

In Nausicaa, a princess tries to prevent a poisonous forest from spreading over the world, helped by her mentor Lord Yupa and a neighbouring prince named Asbel.

The film is the first full-length feature written and directed by Miyazaki. The set will sell for $29.99 US.

Eric Schaeffer is directing the new musical Snow White, an adaptation of the film created specifically for audiences at the Disney theme park.

All of the roles besides Stewart's will be performed live on stage by two alternating casts. The production will incorporate the famous songs from the movie.

Stewart will record his role for the 32-minute adaptation when rehearsals begin.
