Frakes Fulfilled As Riker

William Riker actor Jonathan Frakes said recently that he feels he's done all he wanted to with his character.

"I can't think of anything I still want to do as Riker," Frakes told Star Trek Monthly (via Scifi Pulse).

"I get a leg over with Marina [Sirtis] in 'Star Trek: Nemesis' and something big happens at the end of the film. So if it's really all over I've had a full meal, and if it's not, I’ll be happy to show up and do what they ask me."

"I directed the last two films, so there wasn’t much time for me to act, and I didn’t want a whole lot to do as Riker because I had so many other things to focus on. But I like where he is now," he said.

The actor went on to talk about Riker's marriage to Deanna Troi. "That was a lot of fun - You could see that we were having a great time," he said. "What’s funny is that Marina and I never actually get married on the screen. We only had the reception on camera. It's a lot like your own wedding, everybody talks to you, but you don’t have to make any speeches.

"It was a ball. Data sang. I played trombone. Patrick [Stewart] had a wonderful comic speech. It was a good experience and it's something we've been building for a long time."

Much more from Jonathan Frakes can be found in the current issue of Star Trek Monthly, out now in the UK, Alternatively, extracts can be found online by following this link to Scifi Pulse.
