Hello World!

There has to be very little on this planet that is less enjoyable than a trip to the dentist, unless it's a trip to the dentist where you know you're going to come away with fillings. This time last year, I had perfect teeth. This time last year I wasn't walking around with a drooping lower lip, a numb tongue and distressing tendency to unwittingly bite said muscle, a lisp normally only associated with black-and-white cartoon cats called Sylvester and the horrible sinking feeling that my mouth is *really* going to hurt tomorrow. {sighs}

In other news: A second surfer was taken by a shark in South Australia, 300 miles from Cactus beach, the site of the one I briefly mentioned the other day. Also, Cathy Freeman is a legend, and so are the Aussie women's beach volley ball and water-polo teams, and a women's pole-vaulter, the name of whom I can't quite remember. I am faced with the dreary prospect of being forced to drink Diet Coke instead of the original (and much better tasting) concoction.

Finally, for my link of the day (and the fact I told you I'd be doing this), one of my favorite radio stations - Tripple J . Have a listen if you feel so inclined for a taste of true Australia - and they do Olympic coverage too... well, sorta.

Today On TV

-At 9:00pm (8:00pm Eastern Time), UPN will be repeating Voyager's 'The Haunting of Deck 12'. Here's how they discribe the episode:

As Neelix tells it - an electromagnetic life form takes possession of the ship, shutting down all life support systems, while trying to communicate to Janeway its need to return to the nebula from which it came. Area by area is cordoned off by an invisible force field, and injected with poisonous gas, while the captain sets up an emergency command post in the Engineering Room.
