'Threshold' Producer and Star Keep Busy

Brannon Braga spoke about his first major project to follow Star Trek: Enterprise, the CBS pilot Threshold, which will star Brent Spiner and which he described as a think tank faced with the unthinkable: an alien invasion.

"It's all from the point of view of a woman who works at a think tank as a contingency analyst," Braga told Sci Fi Wire of the script that he co-wrote with director David Goyer. "Alien invasion is something that think tanks really do contemplate as thought experiments, but no one ever really thinks they might happen."

Spiner plays a member of a team that also includes Carla Gugino and Charles S. Dutton. Braga said he liked working with Goyer and fellow producer David Heyman, and hoped to hear in May that the show had made it onto CBS' fall schedule.

Meanwhile Spiner is also working with Hillary and Haylie Duff and Anjelica Huston on Material Girls, an independent film about cosmetic heiresses who lose their fortune following a scandal. Zap2It reports that Spiner will play the CEO of the girls' firm while Huston plays their competitor, the owner of another cosmetics company.

The film will be directed by Martha Coolidge, with whom Spiner - best known as Star Trek: The Next Generation's Data - worked in Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, The Ponder Heart and Out to Sea.

The interview with Braga is here, while the information about Material Girls is here.
