'Star Trek' To Use 'Gorn Rock'

The Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park, often used as a filming site in various Star Trek episodes, will be utilized again in the upcoming Star Trek XI movie.

As reported by The Trek Movie Report, the recognizable rock formation, most famous to Star Trek fans as the site where Captain Kirk fought the Gorn in Arena, will be used in Star Trek XI.

Vasquez Rocks was used in the Star Trek episodes Arena, Shore Leave, The Alternative Factor and Friday's Child. The site was also used to film episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Voyager, and Enterprise. The Vasquez Rocks stood in for the planet Vulcan in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.

Many television shows and movies have filmed there over the years including: Gunsmoke, Planet of the Apes, Bonanza, Wild Wild West and Bruce Campbell's Army of Darkness.

The Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park is a seven hundred and forty-five acre park located in northern Los Angeles County. The park is named after Tiburcio Vasquez, a bandit who lived from 1835-1875 and used the rocks named after him as one of his hideouts.
