Dorn's 'Descent' Debuts on Sci-Fi

The original TV movie Descent, which stars Star Trek's Michael Dorn (Worf) as well as The Fifth Element's Luke Perry, premiered on The Sci-Fi Channel last Saturday and will repeat tonight at 9 p.m. EDT.

The film, directed by Terry Cunningham from a script by Michael Konyves, concerns a volcanic disaster in Washington State that requires scientists to drill to the Earth's core. It has received only a 3.9/10 rating from users at the Internet Movie Database, one of whom criticised the absurd science of the lava geyser and said that other than "pretty boy Perry" the storyline had few assets.

A review at Blogcritics agreed, calling the movie "a straight knock-off of 2003's The Core", and adding that the actors seemed to struggle with the scientific dialogue that fills time between volcanic special effects.

Sci-Fi will air the film again on Saturday, June 25th at 5 p.m. The network's schedule may be found at here.

Details on the movie may be found at the IMDb.
