'Excelsior' Campaign Update

By Christian

The people at the Excelsior Campaign, the fan campaign lobbying for a Captain Sulu series, just sent out a newsletter giving an update on the current status of the campaign.

In the first place, Excelsior will have a very prominent presence at the Grand Slam convention coming up next weekend in Los Angeles. The organisers have given the campaign a center cour place for their table and display, and during the convention George Takei (Hikaru Sulu) himself will take the stage, wearing an Excelsior T-shirt. The campaign will also hold a press conference during the event.

In other Excelsior news, the update contained word that as of March 11, the end of the first stage in their letter writing campaign, 2300 letters were reported as being sent to Paramount. A second letter writing stage should follow in a few weeks.

You can find the official Excelsior Campaign web site here. Personally I don't think a Captain Sulu series would be a good idea, but the people running Excelsior definitely need to be commended for organising such a well-orchestrated campaign - the media attention they've been getting is truly astonishing.
