Greg Grunberg, a longtime friend of Star Trek XI producer J.J. Abrams who is currently starring in NBC's Heroes as a mind-reading policeman, is hoping to play a Vulcan in the upcoming Trek feature film.

"He's finalizing the script right now so I just talked to him today and he said, 'I'll send it to you as soon as it’s done,'" Grunberg told Rotten Tomatoes. "So hopefully it'll be very soon."

Grunberg, who had roles in Abrams' Alias, Lost and Mission: Impossible 3, said that he would particularly like to play a Vulcan. "That would be incredible. I don't want to sit through too much makeup though," he added. "That's the one thing I'm worried about but we'll see."

Abrams and Grunberg saw one another at the Golden Globe Awards, where the former was a presenter and the latter a nominee. Grunberg said that after the ceremony, he called Abrams and pretended to be a member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association so he could tell him that Lost was in last place."

Lowly Uhlan posted at the TrekBBS that Grunberg had appeared on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live and telling the host that he had told Abrams he wouldn't go through eight hours of makeup just to have one line, to which Abrams retorted, "Yes you will."
