Film group Constantin has picked up the German language rights to a gay Star Trek spoof.

According to Variety, (T)Raumschiff Surprise is based on a recurring sketch on comedy sketch show BullyParade, and tells the story of a campy gay starship crew exploring space. Its name is a play on two German words, Raumschiff (meaning spaceship) and Traumschiff (meaning dreamboat).

The show will star Michael Herbig, Til Schweiger, Anja Kling and BullyParade regulars Rick Kavanian and Christian Tramitz.

Constantin, having picked up the theatrical, video and DVD rights for (T)Raumschiff Surprise, is aiming for a 2004 release in theatres.

The original Variety arcicle can be found here.
