Brent Spiner (Data) has joined the cast of action spoof movie Superhero!, which recently began shooting and is expected in theatres next March.

Craig Mazin of Scary Move 3 and 4 will direct the film from his own script, according to Variety. The cast also includesDrake Bell, Sara Paxton, Jeffrey Tambor and longtime spoof star Leslie Nielsen.

David Zucker and Robert K. Weiss, who worked with Mazin on the Scary Movies and three Naked Gun 2 features, will produce.

Cinematical quoted Zucker as saying, "You know, we've identified about a dozen characteristics that are common to all these superhero movies, like Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men...and if you can get those common characteristics, there's a pretty good chance that the audience will share those references and you can poke fun at the cliches.

Spiner is a veteran of several science fiction and fantasy projects including CBS's Threshold and Indepedence Day in addition to playing multiple generations of Soongs in the Star Trek franchise.

Superhero! is scheduled for release on March 28th, 2008.
