Archer Due For A Day of Reckoning, Says Bakula

Captain Archer made several controversial decisions over the course of last season on Star Trek: Enterprise, and actor Scott Bakula said that he expects to see him struggling with those choices in the aftermath of the Xindi conflict.

"I think there's definitely going to be a day of reckoning," Bakula told Sci Fi Wire at UPN's fall press tour, which took place this week in Los Angeles. Expressing his pleasure with the move to Friday nights and recalling that Miami Vice and other shows had thrived in the new time slot, he was enthusiastic about the upcoming season and glad to "get to go again."

Comparing Archer to a war veteran who has come home, Bakula said, "There's going to be some repercussions...how has it changed him?" He expected that the character would be asking himself, "'Wow, what have I done?'"

But he also expected "some fun stuff" including encounters with familiar species and storylines referring to the original series and The Next Generation. "That'll kind of bring it back full circle for the fans from the beginning. It should be fun...I don't want to be a hopelessly optimistic guy, but, you know, we're going to make great shows again this season."
