Hello World!

Ahh.. Freedom No doubt my dear co-editor, self-admitted control freak that he his, is having constant panic attacks at the lack of an early-morning update from yours truly… well, he's probably having contacnt panic attacks even now that I'm online. Oh well. Unfortunately, that's what happens when you share a computer.

In the news today… or rather yesterday, I ran across two bits of very disturbing news out of Hollywood. Well, one is mildly upsetting, the other is very disturbing. I'll start with the mildly upsetting one first. A live action' Scooby Doo' movie has gotten the go-ahead. I was shocked. I was appalled. I was wondering how n earth they're going to get that dog to talk. Mind you, that's small cheese these days. In the end, I settled for disappointment. 'Scooby Doo' is one of the great cartoons of my childhood, ranking up there with the eternal 'Loony Toons' and several others for sheer hours of mindless viewing pleasure. Of course, as I got older and tired of the incredibly simple plot, I graduated onto bigger and better things (namely Pinky and the Brain and, when I'm particularly bored, new shows like 'the Powerpuff Girls' where I laugh at all the little in-jokes my adolescent brother misses). Of course, these days I tend to derive my dosages of humor from shows such as 'Fraiser', the timeless 'Monty Python's Flying Circus', 'Red Dwarf' and the occasional episode of South Park. But, back to the topic, a 'Scooby Doo' movie? Why destroy this precious icon of blissfully innocent childhood with rampant commercialism? Alas, I see poor Shaggy and the others going the way of that other early great, 'Inspector Gadget'.

However, that pales in comparison to the really, really awful news. It's appaling. It will shock you to the core. It will make you cast your eyes heavenwards and cry aloud "Why? Why? Why?!?"

Why oh why would John Travolta want to throw away all his hard work spent dragging his career out of oblivion by making a *second* 'Battlefield Earth'??? Sickening thought, isn't it?

Below are the results of the most recent TrekToday poll:

How would you rate 'Drive'?
9-10 36.8% - (309 Votes)
7-8 25.6% - (215 Votes)
Haven't seen it 17% - (143 Votes)

Well, it seems that most of you all out there thought Drive was pretty good - but it's been getting mixed reviews so I think I'll wait until I see it myself... But in the mean time, why not have a go at this week's poll (Ok - I couldn't resist it, confirmed 'shipper and all), 'Who's your favourite Voyager couple', whether cannon or hypothetical.
