More On 'ST: TMP' DVD

I just received some more info on the upcoming DVD of 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture', for which a Special Edition version is currently being created at Paramount. The DVD version appears to be even more ambitious than reported before, as I'm told director Robert Wise is completely re-editing the movie so that it reflects his vision for it.

'Star Trek: The Motion Picture' is apparently the only movie Wise directed that he did not also edit, so this is a big deal for him, and Wise's participation is basically the reason why Paramount is paying for this to happen. The person who informed me of this was told that Wise's DVD version is going to be fast, colourful and a lot more fun and coherent than the original film version.p> In addition, the special effects work done by 'Voyager' effects house Foundation Imaging apparently includes redoing a number of effects completely, in order to serve Wise's edit of the film better.
