Tribune Entertainment Syndication Company Closes

The company responsible for the syndication of several Gene Roddenberry shows is a casualty of a buyout.

As reported at Variety, the company responsible for syndicating Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda and Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict has been bought out by millionaire Sam Zell.

Tribune Entertainment has represented shows such as The Dennis Miller Show. Recent series included American Idol Rewind, and Soul Train.

The company did well with first-run syndication in the early 2000s, when it distributed shows such as Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda and Mutant X which were profitable in the international market. However, when foreign broadcasters stopped purchasing the shows, the production of the shows could no longer be justified.
