"One source told us not to expect the title on the studio's release schedule before June, and a couple of others have let us know that September or October is tentatively planned," noted the site.

The animated Star Trek debuted on television on September 8th, 1973, the seventh anniversary of the original series' release on September 8th, 1966. The Digital Bits predicted that the animated series DVDs might be released to coincide with Star Trek's 40th anniversary in September 2006.

Twenty-two original stories were produced for the animated series over two seasons, with most of the original series cast returning to voice their characters. There has been no word yet on how many discs might comprise the DVD set(s).
