Hello World!

Ahh... another beautiful day in sunny Perth… A few clouds in the sky, a pleasant 30 degrees, a nice breeze, the birds in the trees and the flowers and bees. Ok, enough bad rhyming for now.

In other news today: Cricket. Who plays it? Why do they play it? And who on earth watches it? I can't help but feel I've never really gotten the point of cricket, which is the only sport with meal-breaks built into it. Sure it has a fine, honorable tradition of men in white on green grass standing around all day waiting for something to happen, but it's not really, well, all that exciting is it? My brother, on the other hand, disagrees, but then he plays wicket-keeper (or wickie), and thus actually spends the majority of the game doing something instead of sanding around and waiting for something to happen *to* him. Beach cricket or back-yard cricket is fine by me, it's just the idea of it as a professional sport that bugs me – you don't really even have to be fit to play cricket – Shane Warne (Warney) who is one of our better bowlers, smokes and is noticeably porky. I'd personally much rather play baseball, or ,for that matter, watch baseball, which, while prone to it's own lulls, actually does not usually take all weekend to play.
