After months of waiting, Paramount has finally confirmed the official release date for Star Trek: The Animated Series and released an image of the cover art.

TV Shows on DVD has posted the package cover, which looks very different from the early art floated as the likely design. A white box with cardboard wraparound features the faces of the Enterprise crew in an insignia design on the plastic package. The release date is November 21st.

All 22 episodes will be included in the set, which will consist of four discs. Special features a two documentaries, "Drawn to the Final Frontier - The Making of Star Trek: The Animated Series" and "What's the Star Trek Connection?"; a photo gallery plus wallpapers and AIM icons; a history of the show; and text commentaries by Michael and Denise Okuda on the episodes "Yesteryear," "The Eye of the Beholder" and "The Counter-Clock Incident").

The set, expected to retail for $35, comprises the full run of the 1973-74 Star Trek spinoff featuring the voices of most members of the original series cast. Walter Koenig, whose character, Chekov, was not a regular on the series, wrote the episode "The Infinite Vulcan."
