Perpetual Entertainment has launched an official site for the upcoming Star Trek massive multiplayer online game (MMOG), including a new FAQ describing "a persistent world where hundreds of thousands of players immerse themselves in the world of Star Trek."

The Star Trek Online site describes development as in pre-production and says that full development is expected to take at least two years. The game will be available internationally for a monthly fee.

"Teamwork is a core value and we aim to deliver industry leading support for formal and informal grouping and affiliations (i.e. fleets, clans, etc.)," Perpetual is quoted as saying. "We plan on setting up official discussion forums once we have adequate staff to support the discussions and information to share."

The Star Trek Gaming Universe has a listing of what has been updated in the official FAQ, noting that there will be holodeck scenarios, ground combat, and permanently commissioned vessels given to players.

In addition, the game will be released in localised versions, with both shipboard and starbase scenarios that will give players opportunity to interact and move around to various parts of the Star Trek universe.
