James Cromwell and Bruce Greenwood will appear with Will Smith in I, Robot, a film of Isaac Asimov's collection of stories by the same name.

Asimov's famous fictional laws of robotics, written in 1940, stipulate that no robot may injure a human being and that all robots must obey orders given them by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

In the film, according to Zap2It, Smith will play Detective Spooner, who is investigating a murder that seems to violate the laws of robotics. Cromwell will appear as Dr. Lanning, the inventor of the most sophisticated robot ever built.

The film also stars Bridget Moynihan and Chi McBride. Production has begun in Vancouver.

Cromwell, who currently stars in the television series Six Feet Under, appeared as Zefram Cochrane in both Star Trek: First Contact and Enterprise.
