Hello World!

While aimlessly surfing the Internet this afternoon I stumbled upon the official web site of Rene Estevez, who plays Nancy in The West Wing.

She's posted some rather nice behind-the-scenes photos from the season four premiere 'Twenty Hours in America.' Several TWW staples can be spotted in the photos - Martin Sheen, Ron Silver, Allison Janney, Dule Hill and new regular Lily Tomlin, as well as a large Air Force Base. Check them out here.

These were some of the major news items on August 18, 2000:

  • Tim Russ Loses Stern's Battle Of The Bands
Voyager actor Tim Russ (Tuvok) appeared on Howard Stern's radio show for the 'Battle of the Bands' contest. Stern's 'Losers' weren't the losers on the day, with the judges selecting their performance of 'Hurdy Gurdy Man' over Russ's 'Money Talks.'

  • UPN Bullets
The Viacom/UPN saga continued to dominate headlines:
    • UPN CEO Dean Valentine sent out a letter to the network's affiliates stating that he hoped the Chris-Craft stations now owned by News Corp. would "remain UPN affiliates for the long term."
    • Industry analysts started to back down from the view that UPN would be shut down as a result of the Chris-Craft deal.
