  • Toy News International has posted the press release from Toy Fair 2008 regarding the Star Trek XI toy release. No pictures have been released this far out from the film release, but details of what is expected are discussed. There will be three scales of action figures, plus a special 12" scale of collector figures, as well as vehicles such as the USS Enterprise.

  • In more Toy Fair 2008 news, Trekmovie.com reports that Scene It? a popular DVD board game, will be offered in a Star Trek version. Star Trek Scene It? will have content from all of the Star Trek series and movies.

  • Variety reports that veteran film and television actor Perry Lopez, who played Lt. Rodriguez in the original series episode Shore Leave, died of lung cancer in California on February 14th. Lopez was best known for his role of Lt. Lou Escobar in the 1974 film Chinatown.

  • Trekweb interviewed Brian S. Matthews, who wrote the Hidden Frontier/Starship Intrepid co-production Operation: Beta Shield. Operation: Beta Shield began as a sequel to The Orphans of War but became a feature-length film that will launch a third spin-off from Hidden Frontier.
