Sulu character to be be fun, says John Cho, who will portray Sulu in Star Trek XI.

As reported at The Trek Movie Report, from an interview in the Star Trek Magazine, playing Sulu will be enjoyable for Cho.

"Sulu's going to be fun," explained Cho, when asked what attracted him to the role. "...because he's extremely skilled and a badass." This side of Sulu should be no surprise for anyone who saw Star Trek III, when his martial arts skills were put to good use and where a larger man found out that calling him "Tiny" was unwise.

Cho is preparing for the role with fight training, which he enjoys and reviewing DVDs to get a feel for Sulu's character.

John Cho's big break was a small role in American Pie where he popularized the term "MILF". In recent work, he has had a recurring role in Ugly Betty as Kenny.
