Tim Russ (Tuvok) last month directed several familiar Star Trek faces in a new short film which pays tribute to creator Gene Roddenberry.

Entitled Roddenberry On Patrol, the comedy short takes "a humorous look at Roddenberry's inspiration for creating the original Star Trek series", according to the Official Tim Russ Webpage. Russ, who helmed the fourth-season Voyager episode "Living Witness", directed the film (which he also stars in) on the weekend of September 20.

The cast includes the actor's former Voyager cast mates Robert Picardo (the Holodoc), Ethan Phillips (Neelix), Robert Beltran (Chakotay) and Richard Herd (Admiral Paris), as well as original Trek veterans Nichelle Nichols (Uhura) and Walter Koenig (Pavel Chekov).

Roddenberry On Patrol will premiere at the Great Bird of the Galaxy Star Trek Celebration to be held in Gene Roddenberry's birthplace, El Paso, on November 15 and 16, 2003. The convention's "Stellar VIP Package" includes a DVD of the short film autographed by Tim Russ. Guests include many of the Roddenberry On Patrol cast members as well as William Shatner (James T. Kirk), James Doohan (Montgomery Scott) and other science fiction stars.
