DS9 Women To Headline New TV Flicks

Former Deep Space Nine stars Terry Farrell (Jadzia Dax) and Chase Masterson (Leeta) will appear in two very different TV movies in upcoming months.

Farrell, who was recently fired from the hit comedy Becker, has been cast in a Jackie Gleason biopic entitled 'The Great One,' StarTrek.com reported. The actress will play the television star's third wife, Marilyn Taylor.

Emmy-nominee Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond) stars as comedy legend Gleason, best known for the series Honeymooners. Other highlights of the actor's long career include the films 'Gigot' and an Academy Award-nominated turn in 'The Hustler.'

The movie, which also stars Saul Rubinek (Kivas Fajo in TNG's 'The Most Toys'), follows hot on the heels of another TV film appearance by Farrell in 'Crossing The Line.' In the Lifetime film, the actress played a basketball coach who had to deal with an outbreak of violence at a game.

'The Great One' will air either later this year or early 2003 on CBS. The original article can be found here at StarTrek.com.

While Farrell is reliving television's golden age, her co-star Chase Masterson will be kicking alien butt. The Leeta actress will play opposite popular Hercules and Xena guest star Bruce Campbell in the Sci-Fi Channel's 'Terminal Invasion.'

Masterson's character is described as a "spunky female pilot" who must join with Campbell's convicted murder to stop an alien invasion of a remote airport. "Can the mis-matched pair stop the extraterrestrial take-over, or will they fall prey to the visitors?" teases the TV film's press release.

'Terminal Invasion' is the first of eight new movies produced by Amber Light Films for the Sci-Fi Channel as part of the cable network's plan to air more action-oriented projects.

The film debuts Saturday, September 14, at 9:00pm Eastern Time on the Sci-Fi Channel.
