Mack To Play M'Benga in 'New Voyages'

Actor Michael Mack, who went from being a writing intern for Star Trek: The Next Generation to playing Commander Sirol - the first black Romulan seen on the series - will appear in Star Trek: New Voyages as Dr. M'Benga.

The New Voyages web site reported the news, noting that Mack, who appeared in "The Pegasus", had also acted in Star Trek: Generations and in The West Wing, Outerworld and The Young and the Restless.

"I am honored to be part of Star Trek: New Voyages," said the actor, who is the founder and executive director of the New Creation Theatre in Wheaton, Maryland, which helps homeless and incarcerated youths use drama to transform their lives.

M'Benga appeared in several original series episodes. A specialist who trained on Vulcan, he helped save Spock in "A Private Little War."
