Hello World!

You won't actually be able to see this yet, but this is actually the first really early TrekToday update. With the new TrekToday design, I'll be able to update round the clock, meaning the regular site columns will be put online early in the morning, with news added to the site over the day as it comes in and I actually have the time to put it up. At the end of the day, I'll press a button and the old news format (which is probably what you're reading now) will be updated. What this also means is that from now on 'Today On TV' will include the TV listings of the current day, and not actually of tomorrow. Again, I'm still very hopeful the new design will go up within a few days - I'm just waiting for a script to be installed on the new server to allow mail to be sent, but for the rest everything in principle is ready.

[Update, 23:14 CET:] You're going to be very surprised at this, but this afternoon I actually decided to go ahead and install (Red Hat 6.1) Linux on the computer I'm currently using. The system has been installed and is now functioning perfectly, with only one problem - for some reason it doesn't want to give me a screen resolution of more than 640*480. Does anyone know what could possibly be the reason for this? I have a Sampo AlphaScan 250 monitor here, which isn't listed in the standard list of supported monitors - would it still be possible for me to get a higher resolution?
