Scott Bakula will be performing an evening of show tunes in a benefit for the Ford's Theater renovation.

As reported at The Washington Post, Bakula will be starring in a performance at Sidney Harman Hall on January 18th, where his own personal journey through the musical world will be traced. Bakula debuted at age thirteen as Amahl in Amahl and the Night Visitors.

Now that his children are older, Bakula hopes to do more in the way of theater work. "I never set out to be on TV or in a movie," he said. "Theater's my first love." Bakula was once nominated for a Tony award as the male lead in Romance/Romance in his pre-Quantum Leap days. Even when acting on television, he managed to use his singing talent, squeezing it into his performances whenever possible.

Bakula is looking forward to the show, while at the same time expressing a bit of trepidation. "I think it's going to be fun," he said. "I'm scared to death of the whole night."
