Zachary Quinto's performance as Spock is much more than just satisfactory according to J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk.

As reported by Eonline.com according to producer Bryan Burk, regarding Quinto as Spock, "Zachary Quinto will make you cry."

Abrams was also complimentary regarding the actor playing the new Spock. "Zachary brought a gravity and an incredible sense of humor, which is a wonderful combination because the Spock character is deceivingly complicated," he explained. Abrams went on to add that "...the revelation for me in watching the movie was that he's extraordinary. He was doing things I didn't even realize while we were shooting. These amazing things that sort of track the story."

Among other things, Star Trek XI will explore the origins of the Kirk-Spock friendship according to Sci Fi Wire. "I never saw how Kirk and Spock became so connected. And that's what this movie does."
