Hello World!

It can be rather embarrassing at times to be the only Trekkie in a theatre, as it was today when I accompanied a friend of mine to see 'Chicken Run'. She wanted to see 'Charlies Angels', which I'd already seen, and her second choice was 'Unbreakble', which I've also already seen, so we wound up going to my first choice instead – and I don't think she regretted it. For those of you not in the know, 'Chicken Run' is a clay-animation movie by the same people who created 'Wallace and Grommit' and is a story in the vein of 'The Great Escape', instead of being human POWS, it's a group of chickens forced to lay eggs or face the chop. And it's quite hilarious. Or at least I thought so – I don't think many of my fellow cinema-goers caught all the little in-jokes. I know I was the only one who laughed at the Scottish engineer who variously told the pilot that 'the engines 'canna take the strain' and 'we've picked up a cling-on'. It was a fun movie, however and I heartily recommend it.

In other news… well, I don't have any other news for today. You're spared that, and the nasty dream I had this morning about my darling younger sibling throwing a bucket full of large and hairy spiders all over me… (shudder)
